I can't believe this girl is 7 now! She is such a friendly, loving, and open person. She tells jokes all the time because she wants to make people laugh! She is a huge blessing to our family!
For her birthday, we had a family celebration. Her dad and I then took her to dinner at Runza and then to play games at Chuck-E-Cheese!I was able to sign Middle Bro. up for an Engineering Day at UNL. We brought another homeschooling friend along and were pleasantly surprised to meet up with two more homeschooling boys there.
The students were given a couple of different challenges during the day.
First, they constructed a marble roller coaster out of paper and tape.
Next, they had to create a coating for a skittle using flour, oil, sugar, and cornstarch. The skittle was then put in some Sierra Mist to see how long the coating would last.
Finally, they were asked to create a Rube Goldberg Machine (a complicated machine set up to complete a simple task). They were supposed to make one using a least 5 different steps to make a mark on a piece of paper. It didn't end up working great when the time came, but it was fun to see them work to create something. I'm sure they would have gotten it if they had more time! They had a great time trying though!
In other news, Big Sis found out she was accepted into the college of her choice! She was attending UNL, but decided it wasn't a good fit. Now she will be heading to a church college in the fall! She is super excited! And we are excited for her!
Baby Sis photo bomb!! :)
The schools around here had spring break recently. I had originally decided we would keep doing our school, but then I got sick....at least half of us got a sore throat thing and I ended up with a huge sinus infection. So, yeah...we went ahead a took a break that week too!
Now, most of us are better and we are trying to get back on schedule. Some of my favorite times are sitting next to my children and watching them learn! In these pictures I was multi-tasking....trying to help both of these kiddos with their English at the same time...Haha!
