Goodbye August!

Last week was pretty busy. As frazzled as I felt, I was still (and still am) grateful. What a blessing to be able to be busy raising children!

On church night, Little Bro. had cub scout pack meeting. It was the annual "Raingutter Regatta".
The kids, siblings included, got to make little boats.  They had what looked like a plastic ice cream sundae dish.  They put a glob of glue from a glue gun on the bottom and stuck the end of a straw in it.  When that was dry the child could put a decorated 'sail' on the straw.
We then stepped outside and two by two, the kids raced their boats--by blowing on the sail.

For some reason, my big boys never got to do this fun activity when they were in cub scouts, so I insisted they give it a try!

Afterwards, the cubscouts had ice cream sundaes in the leftover dishes. My kids loved that!

Right after cub scouts, we went to a Boy Scout Court of Honor for my big boys.  I only have bad, fuzzy pictures of this unfortunately.

Middle Bro. earned his Life rank--which Big Bro. is currently at as well.   I got to go up with him and get pinned as well.  I quickly asked Middle Sis. to snap a few pics and, unfortunately, they were all pretty fuzzy.  Oh, well.

It was a fun night.  We got to see pictures from the Scout camp and High Adventure that my boys went on earlier in the summer.

Afterwards, they served Little Caesar's pizza, ice cream, brownies, cookies, and lemonade.  I guess the boys got very excited in planning treats for this meeting--and we are not complaining!   And my kids were totally spoiled since this was their second dessert of the night!

My last big news of this post was Big Bro's birthday!   I can't believe he is 16!  sniff, sniff   I have been taking him out driving, he is advancing in his priesthood at church, and starting to plan an eagle scout project.   I am so proud of this young man!   (This is the best picture I could get of him!  With all the commotion I didn't realize that I didn't get a picture of him with his eyes open!   ergh!)

So, I found a few other pictures from earlier this summer of Big Bro. at his Youth Conference.

The theme was missionary work.  He had a great time and learned a lot. At one point they were able to spend some time at the Winter Quarters temple and trail center.  He is probably not going to be happy that I posted these--but since I didn't get a decent birthday shot, these will do!
 Happy birthday Big bro!!

How fun! I miss my kids being young and all the fun activities that go with it!
