We had her friends meet us at a local outdoor mall. After making sure everyone knew each other, Big Sis. split the girls into two teams and gave each girl $2. They were told they had an hour (or so) to find the Sweetest thing they could buy for less than $2. Also, each girl on the team had to purchase their item from different stores.
When the girls got back they all showed what they bought. It was so fun to see the different items they came back with:
-two giant pixie sticks
-a cute leopard-print bag
-fake flowers
-a wedding shower stamp
-raspberry smelling hand sanitizer
-a birthday card for a grandmother (with really sweet words inside)
-tropical smelling hand lotion
-a candy bar & bottle of sparkling water
-and a bag of frozen organic Sweet corn (Big Sis's pick).
'The Dad' was chosen to pick a winner. It was tough to choose, but he ended up picking the Birthday card for Grandma! We gave the winner a giant Twix and everyone else got a mini-twix as a consolation prize.
We did all this while sitting in front of Coldstone and after the prizes, 'The Dad' went in and got Coldstone cupcakes for everyone! Seriously Sweet!
Next Big Sis. opened her gifts, the girls chatted, laughed, and walked around the mall some more before their rides came to pick them up. Can I just say that all these girls are great! I am so happy Big Sis. has such great friends around her! And I am also happy that my not-so-little-anymore girl really is SWEET at 16!

Sounds like Alex's party turned out just as she hoped. I am glad it turned out so fun!
Wow! 16! What a great idea for a birthday party - I would have loved that when I was a kid. Maybe still would :)
