Dana and I went into the hospital around noon on March 6th. My doctor "broke my water" at 12:40pm. It took about two hours for my contractions to start getting stronger and closer together. Around 4pm, the contractions were strong enough that I decided to see if the jacuzzi tub in the birthing suite would help at all. If all went well, I was planning on staying in the tub to deliver.

I got in the tub (after being told I was at about 6cm) at 4:20pm and Aliyah was born at 4:57pm! The jacuzzi felt awesome, but the contractions got painful--fast! The nurse had called my doctor at about the time I was getting in the tub. Unfortunately, he didn't end up making it in time for the delivery!

The nurses were somewhat freaked out at the possibility of delivering my baby in the tub. This kind of stressed Dana out because he could tell the baby was coming soon and our doctor was not there. Just a bunch of very kind nurses who had never done a water birth before (and had no desire to do one now).
My nurse told me that if I felt like pushing with the next contraction, then they'd help me back to the bed to deliver. It was a nice idea.....BUT... my contractions were so intense...I did not "feel like pushing". I just knew I was in pain and I wanted the baby out so it would stop! Aliyah was born with the next contraction.

It was kind of crazy! Neither Dana nor I wanted to cut the cord, so the nurses got to do that too. They helped move me to the bed and my doctor came in--just in time to deliver the placenta. I felt bad that he missed the birth! He is such a great doctor and loves delivering babies. He said that this was only the second delivery he's ever missed!

Aliyah is awesome! She was big, healthy, and rosey skinned. Her siblings adore her! They all want to hold her all the time. It can get tiring, but it is wonderful to see the love they have for her. And I love holding a newborn again! What a huge blessing for our family! I know she is supposed to be here with us now and we are so excited to get to know her as she grows!

She is beautiful. I'm glad things went well for you. With Callie I sat in a jacuzzi for about 30 minutes before I got out then delivered her. It was nice. I also have a friend that had 3 out of her 4 children in a bath in her living room. I'm not that brave. Way to go Kori and Dana. You have a beautiful family.
I love all the pictures, and what a story!! She'll love to hear all about that when she's older! My kids love that stuff.
Wow, that is a crazy story. So, this was your first water birth? Would you ever do it again...in the water?
She is such a cutie! I can't wait to take a picture of her and Kylee together! She looks so much bigger than Kylee though! I bet you guys are having fun now that your home. Thanks for all your help and advice in helping us prepare for Kylee. I'm excited to have a cousin for her that is so close in age.
You are such a trooper! She's a cutie! Rest and enjoy!
How exciting! It's fun to have those special moments to help you remember each individual birth, isn't it? All your kids look so in love with their new baby sister!
Big congrats! I can't believe that you have twice as many kids as me! I thought I might have had at least one more by now, but it just isn't meant to be for now, I guess.
Rest up as much as you can while you still have eager helpers!!
Congratulations Kori and Dana!! She is a beautiful baby. You have such a sweet family!

You are just amazing Fruitlooper! Love ya!
Congrats! She is beautiful! It's too bad Dr. McNeely didn't make it for the birth. I bet he was pretty disappointed. I LOVED the jacuzzi too. I'm glad everything went so well!
