Silly girls...

Life is busy and crazy as usual.  Here is a little update....

A couple of weeks ago we got to help celebrate a friends birthday at their property out of town.  A bunch of homeschool friends were there and the kids played games and had a "water fight".
Baby Sis was content to hang out with me on the drive way while the other kids ran around getting soaked.

We had a great time, but it turns out I forgot to do a "tick check" before we headed home, so we brought some home with us.  Middle Sis had at least three. (to make it even better they were discovered while I wasn't home and it was reported to me that "Dad" lost one in the kitchen! Ugh!)
When I began to explain to the younger kids where ticks are found and why they came home with us, Middle Sis. said, "Oh! So that's how you get them?"   Turns out that while playing hide-and-seek, she saw a hole in the ground that she jumped into.

Yep!  Leave it to middle Sis to have no fear or worries about jumping into a hole in the ground--her only thought was that it was a great hiding spot!   Lol!
I have loved that most of our school year activities are done!  It has given me time to focus on other things I have been wanting to do...like art class!

Through Freelyeducate.com, I found at site called Hodgepodge with some great Art Lessons!
First, I helped the boys go through the steps of creating a picture using pastels and then the girls had their turn.   I loved that it was something every age could learn from and do.  It was fun to see how each person's picture turned out differently, even though we were doing the same thing.....and none of them looked bad!
The other day I just thought Baby Sis looked so cute, so I asked her if I could take her picture.  She promptly said, "No." and ran away.   Silly!
But I didn't give up that easily!
Finally, she relented!   (I asked her the same thing yesterday and she said, "No", but then added, "Tomorrow."   Lol...Silly girl!

She has really taken hold of the idea that she is 3 years old.  If you ask her how old she is, she will usually hold up three random fingers to show you (usually every other finger or something...super cute :)
Although they have their moments, I love when my girlies are getting along and being kind to each other!  One night Little Sis decided to share her dessert with Baby Sis.  When I walked by I heard Little Sis saying to Baby Sis, "Who's my best girl?  Who's my best girl?  You!!"
Little Sis, now firmly 5 years old, is testing boundaries and asserting her independence.  She will usually speak up and tell others how things are supposed to be or answer questions that were asked of someone else.
The other day she wanted a drink of water so I turned the water on, but told her to get a cup and get the water.   She started whining to me about getting her a cup and I told her she was big enough to get her own cup.

She stopped and said matter-of-factly, "If you were a good parent, then I would listen to you."

(Side note:  She later asked me for something and I couldn't help myself, I said, "I don't think so...cuz I am a bad parent."  She immediately said, "I was just kidding!"  Lol)

Every month our homeschool co-op has picked days to meet and play at a park.  We decided to join them one day last week.  Everyone came except Big Sis.  It was beautiful weather and our group had the park to ourselves!

Here is Baby Sis on the floor at the store.  We stopped in to get a few things and we decided to get ice cream.  I let Little Sis pick the flavor and Baby Sis was not happy about it.  She promptly laid down on the floor, and then crossed her arms and legs.   Lol!   I just laughed.   After a couple of seconds I told her that the floor was dirty and could she please get up...and she did...but not before Big Sis snapped a picture!
My girls keep bringing in flowers from the yard.  I had to ask the younger ones not to pick flowers off the rose bushes, so now they bring flowers they find on the ground.   I usually get out a jar of water and as they randomly run in with a different flower throughout the day, I tell them to put it in the jar.

The other day I looked at the "flower jar" and I thought it actually looked really pretty! (Nice accidental flower arranging kids!)
