Decide to leave husband and kids sitting in church meeting to go feed baby.
Begin to leave.
Look back, see two year old making a fuss with dad.
Reason that I can shut two year old in room with me, otherwise Dad may have to take two year old out of meeting and leave other children sitting alone.
Motion for Dad to send two-year old to me.
Go to Mother's room with baby and two-year old.
Feed baby. Watch two-year old bounce on chairs and turn on faucet on and off.
Casually ask two-year old where her sweater is.
Two year old leaves mother's room while I am in the middle of feeding baby.
I quickly end the feeding and leave the room. Two-year old is no where to be seen.
Head to meeting room for back-up. Open door.
See two-year old open door on opposite side.
Stare helplessly, not wanting to disrupt meeting any more than that of a wandering two year old.
See two-year old walk in meeting room-- (my family was on the back row-middle section), walk all the way to the front, turn left, walk along the front row, turn left again, walk down the aisle, and finally come to the family.
Watch two-year old push past brothers and sisters, obtain said sweater, and triumphantly come back out the door I am staring through.
Lovely.
(And as long as I am on the subject, I may as well mention that I gave a talk in church the Sunday before Christmas. Just as I started to speak, my two-year old comes running up the stand to me! My oldest had kindly tried to take her old out for a drink of water--but that little girl can move! My oldest then had the rough task of taking the uncooperative toddler out. Yeah. What are you gonna do? Just look like the crazy, unorganized homeschooling mother of seven that I am?? Well, I am sure these will make great stories....someday....)

I loved seeing her walk up the aisle. Not as mortifying as having a child participate in someone's talk by yelling out answers to rhetorical questions, right? ;)
I loved both of those, seeing her walk, and Caleb's answers to your talk!
I remember Molly was our escapee during church at that age. . .she would calmly walk like she was going to come back and once she made it far enough, she would run! We called it the track. Usually Sister Hill or someone over on the front rows would grab her for us. . .and before we took his binky away, Simon would just lay down in the middle (seriously, right in the middle) of the aisle and lay down with his blanky, every week. That was especially fun on fast sundays when people would have to make their way around him.
I was impressed that Aliyah just calmly walked right around, she knew right where she was going!!
I have to admit I was chuckling as I read this! Oh, the joys! At least you know she was listening to you.
Hilarious! Glad you made it through church that day!
