Last week:
Me: What do you want for lunch?
Stephan: I want pizza.
Me: Okay. I'll get you a piece of pizza.
Stephan: Noooooo! I don't wan a piece of pizza! I want the whole of it!
The day after his birthday I offered him some left over cake.
Me: Do you want a piece of cake?
Stephan: Nooooo! I don't wan a piece of cake! I want the whole of it!
In case you are not getting it--he really did want a piece of these things--not the whole cake or pizza. But, being an adorably literal preschooler, he was thinking a "piece" would be a "piece of the piece" and THAT would just not be acceptable!
